Shooting is way off!

Reported by: danweiss+dreamzzt@… Owned by: sam
Priority: minor Milestone: 3.2.0
Component: Core Version: 3.0.8
Keywords: Cc:
Game: Board:
Platform: All

Description

There should be two ways to shoot: Just with spacebar alone, and with Shift+Arrow key. Shift+Arrow key is essential because you don't constantly shoot that way.

DreamZZT also fails to enforce the max player bullets on screen restriction.

The space bar acts the same as the shift key would in regular ZZT. You can choose directions while holding the space bar.

Using the shift key is more difficult, as it doesn't send regular keypress events like other keys do, it acts as a modifier to whatever key is being pressed along with it. I will see if I can get it working.

The space bar in this version does NOT act like the shift key in regular ZZT. Space Bar: - Shoots in the last arrow key direction you have pressed, possibly multiple times. Shift key: - Holding it down by itself does nothing. - Holding it down and pressing an arrow key shoots in that direction

I always used the shift key, and it really needs to support a fire button which does not constantly fire while being held down.

Are you sure? It seems to work perfectly for me…

This was corrected as of revision [538] (See the automatic comment above). This ticket is still open to address the shift key issue.

This isn't minor IMO, without a 'shift', We lose the dodging and quick firing sideways that is needed for most combat. Perhaps use R as shift, if you must keep the A for spacebar.

I assume you are reffering to the Nintendo DS version of DreamZZT?
