Could it be possible to stream music via EDGE ?

The EDGE network is too slow in most places to stream the radio. Some people have reported success though, so I will include a preferences option to enable streaming over EDGE if you really want to try it. In my area, I can't play more than 10 seconds before it runs out of data.

Aren't you in contact with Last.FM ? Couldn't they broadcast an alternative bitrateless stream for mobiles ?

Last.FM doesn't provide any 3rd party support for the radio streams, they don't even have any official documentation on it.

The way the protocol works is that it provides a list of mp3 files to play, it's not a traditional stream like ShoutCast? or something. They'd have to re-encode every mp3 file for a lower bitrate, and I highly doubt they'd be interested in doing that, especially for a 3rd party client.

Ok. So, you could delay music playing in EDGE mode and start it when suffisant datas is downloaded as the quicktime player and youtube. If bandwidht is speedless, we'll have only a long break between each songs, but no break in song.
